Uh Oh! Here Comes a Rant! #1

Hey “guys” (quotations around guys because I’m just assuming at least two people will see this, or I hope so). I’ve arrived back home and started school again since I last posted, it’s very hard for me to commit to something. I appear to have acquired the dreadful gift of the inability to make habits. Heres what I mean:

Everything has pretty much turned to garbage since the school year started. I don’t have a job anymore (duh, I had to leave the best job ever to come back home) and it has been really hard finding a new one. Also, I stopped working out so my once smoking hot bod is now mediocre at best, which is all my fault (remember when I said it’s nearly impossible for me to make positive habits?). In addition to this, over the past few days alone my grades have started dropping, which again, is all my fault. In fact, I’m supposed to be doing an AP Psychology assignment at this very moment.

This past weekend, my school closed their first fall show of the year. I was the Assistant Stage Manager for our production of 12 Angry Jurors and it went very well despite all of my stress crying (for oh so many reasons) on closing night. Since then, I’ve cried at least once a day. It’s been five days. Someone send help. I’m not even crying because I’m sad, it just starts happening. I’ll be hanging out, doing some shopping in Target, and all the sudden the waterworks start going. A very kind older woman even asked me if I was okay before I noticed that I had started crying again. Anyway, like this post if you’re pretty wrecked too, or if you can at least sympathize with it!Screen Shot 2017-07-01 at 10.38.01 PM

Goodbye to Miller’s!

Today was my last day working at Miller’s Landing in Bass Lake. I’m so sad to say goodbye to all the wonderful people I’ve met here, but so incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done for me and the experiences we shared. I couldn’t be more happy! Now I’m off to Lake Powell for a family trip–I just can’t get enough water and sunshine this summer!

White Noise – By Carly Jaeger

You stare into the glow radiating from the TV. There are no other sources of light around you. Your protruding stomach spills from under your sweat stained wife-beater and hangs over the waistband of your old plaid green boxers. You can only hear the sound of crackling static as your vision is consumed by twitching black and white dots. One of the antennas on your TV is bent and broken, you no longer receive any stations. Your mouth hangs open slightly as your breath seeps through, rank and pungent, assaulting your nostrils with a bitter sting. You lick your yellowed, rotting teeth and suck on your tongue, not having brushed your teeth in days, maybe even weeks—even you don’t know. A fat fly lands on the rotting sandwich beside you. The sandwich had fallen from your hand and onto the itchy cloth couch long ago, the crusting mustard staining the fabric. A spilled beer soaks into the cushions. Having gone uncleaned, the sticky alcohol now releases an aroma of sour yeast that fills the room. Your legs are spread wide and your back and shoulders lean all the way back to slouch on the sofa. The fly leaves the sandwich and flies to you, circling your head before landing on the edge of your receding hairline. You make no effort to shake it away. The fly explores your greasy hairs as the loose skin around your eyes sags down your face. Both your hands are splayed outward at your sides. The left is holding a filthy TV remote, scabbed over with stale crumbs wedged between the buttons. The other hand falls by your side without a purpose and your fingers fall limp, curling inwards towards your sweaty palms. The fly leaves your head, buzzing by your ear, but the hum only blends with the white noise spewing from the TV speakers. You make your first movement in hours. Using your thumb, you slowly press the power button at the top of the remote. The TV snaps off. Still, a colored haze remains on the screen, casting a green halo across the room. The light reflects in the whites of your eyes with a zombie-like glow before your neck falls slack, your chin meets your chest, and your eyes permanently shut.

Depop!

I just discovered the greatest buy-and-sell website courtesy of one of my favorite youtubers, Marzia. She talked about it in one of her videos so I decided to check it out. Within 24 hours of having downloaded the app, I’ve already purchased 2 items. If anybody is interested in buying or selling clothes that are no longer being worn, they should definitely check it out as well!

The Beldish – By Carly Jaeger – A “Jabberwocky” Inspired Poem

Falling down the rabbit hole,

your knees you scrape and cut.

You plug your ears with your fingers,

blocking the cries of the wailing Tut Tut.

A mischievous creature who invades your brain,

stealing your memories and smoothing its terrain.

Farther you fall into the wigglewome

cutting through dimensions and into your home.

A cave made of crystals that glow all year round,

a treasure you’ve cloaked so it cannot be found

by those greedy humans, so conniving and selfish.

In the water beside you, swims your guardian Beldish.

A beautiful creature who cries for the moon,

her moans and sorrows will make you swoon.

A master temptress, indeed she may be,

but the only company beneath the roots of the giving tree.

Her heart is made of brass, her eyes made of glass,

a fearsome creature who will end you in a single singslash.

A musical note sung so high pitched, a slave to her you’ll become,

in love and bewitched.

Only the pollen from a zipzorp can save you then,

inhale it through your nostrils to escape her crystal den!Cave of the Crystals Chihuahua Mexico 12

Summertime Changes

This summer I decided to make a rather big change, I moved to Bass Lake, California, about 5 hours north of my home in Los Angeles. I currently work at Millers Landing, a fantastic business on the southern shore of the lake. I waited until now to make a blog because, well, before now I didn’t have any real experiences or stories worth writing about. In addition to posting personal works, I will also be uploading short stories or updates in regard to my life here in the mountains!
